Police to patrol remote areas

The Yarra Ranges Solo Team are expected to be seen patrolling some of the more remote areas in the shire and division, hoping to catch unlawful drivers and riders.

Over the next few weeks, members will be checking that riders have the appropriate licence category for the type of motorcycle being driven.

They will also be conducting speed checks, general licence checks and vehicle registration checks.

As part of their duties, highway patrol members are able to conduct random drug tests of both drivers and riders at any location.

Intercepted motorists will also be breath tested for the presence of alcohol.

Police motorcycles were recently patrolling at Dom Dom Saddle in Fernshaw, located just 16.4km from Healesville along the Maroondah Highway.
