A truck carrying a large trailer load of lumber overturned and collided with a road safety barrier as it pulled onto Maroondah Highway from Koo-Wee Rup Road in Healesville this morning.
Emergency services were called to a road rescue trap around 6am on Wednesday 22 March, with crews still on scene investigating the incident.
Police weren’t aware of what exactly led to the accident but a fog was present in the area this morning which may have contributed to low level visibility.
Traffic was being directed around the accident site and Acting Sergeant Kevin Smith was at the scene.
“It was foggy at the time but the circumstances of the collision are still under investigation,” he said.
A spokesperson from Ambulance Victoria confirmed the driver was taken to hospital by paramedics and their injuries were non life threatening.
“Paramedics were called to a report of a truck accident in Healesville just before 6am, a man believed to be in his 50s was treated for injuries to his knee and arm and taken to the Alfred in a stable condition,” they said.
“Obviously it’s going to be a lengthy recovery of the vehicle,” said Acting Sergeant Smith.
Clean up has continued into the mid morning with traffic slow downs and disruptions due to the accident.
Police advise motorists to drive with caution through the area and slow to 40km/hour when passing emergency services.
