A dog that had become caught in some branches and subsequently passed away was retrieved by a team from Melbourne Water on Wednesday 26 April from the Yarra Glen River.

The dog was found to have a microchip, but further investigation was unable to track down the current owner of the animal.

The animal was initially discovered by a person fishing in the river on Monday 24 April, who then reported it to the department.
