The Conservation Regulator is appealing to the public for information on the suspected poisoning of approximately 150 corellas at Springvale South over the weekend.
Staff from Conservation Regulator, Agriculture Victoria and Zoos Victoria are currently working to assess, process, sample and test birds for potential causes of death.
The majority of the affected birds are little corellas as well as some long-billed corellas, crested pigeons and non-native pigeons.
Seven little corellas are currently in care at Healesville Sanctuary.

If you find dead or sick birds, do not touch or move them. Instead, take photos, note the location, and report clusters of five or more dead or sick birds by calling the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action on 136 186.
Corellas are protected under the Wildlife Act 1975, and there are significant penalties, including imprisonment, for unlawfully hunting, taking, or destroying protected wildlife.
The community is also being asked to avoid feeding wild birds. Feeding wild birds can promote the spread of disease.

“It’s illegal and dangerous to poison wildlife, and we’re calling on the community to come forward with any information they might have that will help us to track down whoever is responsible.”
