HEALESVILLE artist Christine Cafarella-Pearce has taken out the 2008 Mont De Lancey Collection Acquisitive Art Award.
Ms Cafarella-Pearce’s oil seascape “Rugged Day” was one of 87 works entered by Yarra Ranges’ artists in the prestigious show.
The Mont De Lancey collection was established in 1995 through the support of the Olive Sebire and Annette and Neville Lord Trust with the aim of recognising and encouraging artists living within the Shire of Yarra Ranges.
Mt Evelyn artist Bett Collins, who won the award last year, was named second acquisitive with her watercolour “Under the Snowgums” and Kay Tobin of Mooroolbark received an Encouragement Award for her pastel “Clown”.
Ms Cafarella-Pearce said it was a great honour to win the award and to know that her painting would be part of the permanent Mont De Lancey Collection.
The collection will be complete in 2010.
Jill Sebire of Mont De Lancey said the exhibition was once again of a very high standard reflecting the great breadth of talent to be found in the shire.
The exhibition is on display until Sunday, 5 October at the Mont De Lancey Historic Homestead and Museum in Wellington Road, Wandin.
