Woman succumbs to crash injuries

By Derek Schlennstedt

A woman has died in hospital following a three-car collision in Coldstream, near Oakridge Winery earlier this month.
Investigators believe an east-bound car was waiting to turn right into a driveway from the Maroondah Highway when it was struck from behind by a Suzuki Alto, about 2.30pm on 5 November.
The impact pushed the car forward causing it to collide with an oncoming vehicle.
At the time of the collision a 79-year-old woman from Croydon North, who was a passenger in the Suzuki was taken to hospital.
Sadly she died on 27 November.
The driver of the Suzuki, an 82-year-old Croydon North man, was also taken to hospital on the day with minor injuries – two other persons were taken to hospital as a precaution.
In July 2012, a similar incident at the same location had Yarra Valley residents calling for a reduction in the speed limit to 80km/h.
Police are still investigating the circumstances of the collision.
