Flood warnings out as storms roll in

The Yarra Ranges region is expecting some severe weather conditions over the coming few days, with flash flooding alerts in place.
According to the Bureau of Meteorology, in the region between 50mm to 80mm of rain is forecast for Friday 1 December, with between 50mm to 100mm of rain forecast over the two days until Saturday 2 December.
Vulnerable households and businesses are being advised to prepare their homes by having a plan in place, and have some sandbags on hand to protect the entry points.
Sandbags and sand are available from most hardware and garden supply stores.
Healesville SES Unit Controller Geoff Stott advises residents to stay off the roads for the next few days, if possible.
“Don’t drive through water, even 15cm of water and the car will float,” he said.
“You also don’t know what’s underneath the water.”

The SES is reminding the region: don’t drive, play, walk or go into floodwater; you don’t know what you’re getting into.
