Rockin’ the night away

By JESSE GRAHAM

WANDIN will play host to musical giants this weekend, as the Rock Berry Jam comes to the Yarra Valley, boasting a day of great songs and beautiful surrounds.
Rock Berry Jam, a new open-air rock concert, will bring Cold Chisel’s Ian Moss, Dragon, Choirboys, Skipping Girl Vinegar and more to the Wain East Reserve on Old Baker Road on Saturday 8 February.
The concert will open at 2pm and run through until 10pm at the reserve, with music beginning the moment visitors walk through the door.
Music will run from start-to-stop at the concert, with a DJ pumping out music between band sets.
Rock Berry Jam is organised by the Silvan Football Club, and funds raised through the event will go to the club to fund its projects in the community.
Visitors are encouraged to pack a picnic and bring a rug and to spend the afternoon enjoying music while supporting a local community group.
There is ample parking at the venue, but visitors are encouraged to find alternate transport, such as buses or taxis, if they are consuming alcohol.
The event is fully licensed and is strictly for people aged over 18, with no alcohol allowed to be brought from outside – Yarra Valley wines and beers, along with soft drink and water, will be available for purchase.
Tickets for Rock Berry Jam start at $90 per person for general admission, $150 for VIP seating and $300 for the VIP Cherry Lounge.
Pets, professional cameras, glass items and metal cutlery are prohibited, though umbrellas will be allowed, due to the severe heat forecast for the day.
