Join Orchestra Victoria to close out the year with a final concert in the Five on Fridays series at The Memo in Healesville.
To capture the festive spirit of the holiday season, Orchestra Victoria’s Acting Concertmaster Roger Jonsson has curated a program of chamber music he says is sure to delight audiences no matter your age.
“I think we have worked really hard, it’s a full crowd-pleaser – romantic tunes, it is a very broad mix,” Mr Jonsson said.
The one-hour concert features a variety of classical melodies that cater to a broad range of ages.
Piazzolla’s Winter, based on Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, produces vivid images of wild winters in Argentina, while Ralph Vaughn-Williams’ Piano Quintet in C Minor takes the audience through lyrical English landscapes.
Back on local shores and the orchestra celebrates the favourite Australian drama The Doctor Blake Mysteries with its haunting and mysterious theme written by Melbourne-based composer, Dale Cornelius, specially arranged for this performance.
the reason I included the Dr Blake series is I like it and people that enjoy the series … hopefully they can enjoy the concert and get an interest in classical music and explore it more.”
Mr Jonssonn said he had arranged and included music that would cater to people from all walks of life and said that audience members didn’t have to classical music savants to enjoy it.
“It’s a little bit under an hour … you don’t have to sit too long and we created a relaxed atmosphere that everyone can enjoy.
“You don’t have understand, you just have to come with an open mind.”
The concert will take place on Friday 8 December from 7.30pm and Yarra Ranges Council encourages under 26-year-olds to enjoy this great concert series with a free ticket.
