Mixed fortunes for Burras

The Warburton Bowls Club’s number one team hosted Burden Park 1 in beautiful conditions.

Despite winning two rinks and drawing one, the Burras went down 74 to 84.

Rink scores were as follows: P. Caneva 10/32, J. Van Der Zweep 24/16, S. Lee-Tet 17/17, and A. Donohue 23/19.

The side plays Croydon 1 back away on 24 November.

Next week is a bye due to the Vic Open in Shepparton.

Warburton 2 played Eastwood Golf 1 away on a slow and tricky grass green.

The Burras were just behind at the break before Eastwood pulled away to win convincingly 57 to 101.

Rink scores were B. Hall 19/20, P. Summers 11/31, D. McConachy 17/25 and C. Gell 10/25.

A special thanks went to Nick Wal from Yarra Junction Bowls Club who played as a substitute for the Burras who were one player short.

The side will play against Heatherdale 1 at home on 24 November.

New and beginning players are still encouraged to join the small, friendly club.

Coaching is available from qualified coaches.

The Mid-Week Tuesday Pennant team had a bye this week and will play Eastwood Golf 1 at home on 13 November.

The Wednesday Night Barefoot Bowls Triples Competition continued last Wednesday evening with several close games.

Rink scores were as follows: Dill’s Crew 16 d Reefton Rockets 10, Big Al’s 16 d Moonshiners 12, Nutters 23 d Burra Boys 3, Saint Dogs 25 d Dunny Divas 3, Pensioners 16 d Shambolics 8, Trailer Trash 10 d G Force 8, and Get Schwifty 22 d Bolters 11. KTs had the bye.
