Woori stuns Silvan

WOORI Yallock defeated Silvan in the D.J. Strachan Shield as the second round for one-day matches was completed on Saturday with all senior grades playing.
Woori Yallock hosted Silvan and reached 9/116cc with Danny Hyndman scoring 37. John Lovell took 3/37 and Cronhurst 3/33 for Silvan who in reply could only manage 69. Brendan Hyndman with 3/17, Danny Hyndman 3/9 and Andrew Sharp 3/20 were the main wicket takers.
Coldstream travelled to Yarra Junction and were dismissed for 91 as Cuthbertson top scored with 23. David Lever 4/14, Glen Thompson 2/14 were the leading bowlers for Yarra Junction who in reply reached 7/161 dec.
Ben Lever 74, Kevin Bomford 25, Liam Doughty bowled well to take 3/48. At the Wandin Cricket Ground, Healesville batted first and were all out for 124, opener Brian Horner scoring 30 and captain Tyson Carruthers 42 while Justin Mays took 3/10. Wandin, in reply, scored 9/188cc with Wayne Ross 42, Jason Rowe 31, for a good win.
In the match of the round, Seville batted first against Mount Evelyn and after 40 overs were 6/139cc Matt Sondergeld leading the way with a fine 40, Stu Sculthorpe 29 not out while Shane Luck and Chris Anderson took 2/25 and 2/23 respectively. After tea, Mt Evelyn took to the crease and passed the Seville score with just two wickets and three balls to spare (8/144cc) Luke Jones 48, Rob Henderson 3/38 and Andrew Di Pietro 2/27 were the best of the bowlers for Seville. Yarra Panthers travelled to Warburton and were dismissed for just 46, Warburton’s Cam Darwall was the destroyer with 5/3, while brother Luke assisted with 2/5.
Warburton-Millgrove were dismissed for 130 with another Darwall in Steve getting into the act with 52 runs while Roger Fernando took 4/12, J. Koole 3/10.
The YVCA will commence its veterans season on Sunday, 28 October. Anyone interested in playing in this over-40s competition could contact the association on 0408 353 076 to find a club. Also all clubs in the juniors are looking for new players and the return of past players in the U16, U14 and U12 plus the U10. Many clubs will have Milo Have A Go this season, more on that in the next few weeks.
