Three the lucky number

THERE was much jubilation at Monbulk Bowling Club last Saturday night, with all three sides having a win.
The Second and Third sides each finishing fifth on their respective tables, but the Firsts have been promoted to First Division for next season.
Since entering Metropolitan ranks in the 2000/1 season, this side has been promoted every year, from Sixth Division to First Division, a very worthy achievement. Results for all sides last Saturday were:
The firsts went to Bayswater to play off for top place on the table, and returned winners, 108 shots to 77. Al Partington beat A.Woning 27 shots to 23, Gary Nicholls went down to J.Rouse 19 shots to 24, Greg Blades beat K.Bentley 36 shots to 22, and Don Griffiths beat R.Murray 36 shots to 17.The seconds were at home to Bayswater and won comfortably 108 shots to 77. John Kruyer beat T.Phyland 28 shots to 25, Laurie Newman beat G.Hudson 37 shots to 10, Charles Stewart beat C.Yates 27 shots to 19, and John Ritchie went down to G.Howarth 16 shots to 23.
The third side was home to Burden Park and had a thumping win 134 shots to 67. Denise Nicholls beat G.Gill 23 shots to 21, Jim Wilson beat T.Bale 34 shots to 24, including an “eight”, Merv Fleming beat C.Norman 35 shots to 16, and Doug Elliott beat L.Ramsay 42 shots to 16.
