Peace of Santa action

BE CAREFUL what you wish for was a prominent sentiment over the weekend with rain driving Christmas celebrations on both sides of the valley indoors.
Despite the unfortunate timing, no-one was complaining too much preferring to think of all that beautiful water topping up tanks and watering the gardens as an early Christmas present from above.
The Warburton Christmas Carnival went ahead at the Mechanics Institute Hall with Father Christmas, as always the big attraction and, not too surprisingly either, Nintendos topping the kids’ wish lists.
Nintendos may just be one of the easier wishes to fulfil.
“There were a couple of requests for ponies, and I was very pleased to hear some children still asking for books,” he revealed to the Mail. “And there were a couple, too, who asked for world peace.”
While a number of Healesville Lions Club’s Carols By Candlelight activities were washed out, for the second year in a row, Santa was happy to find a dry spot at the Liberty Family Church and the Healesville Combined Churches Choir led by Laura Rogers had young and old singing along to modern and traditional carols.
