Training enriches through excellence

THE Upper Yarra Community House has spent more than 30 years providing quality training in the Yarra Valley.
Training opportunities are now accessible, with more training options in more facilities including Healesville, Lilydale, Ringwood, and new purpose built classrooms in Yarra Junction.
The new $1.5 million “centre of excellence” has five new state-of-the-art buildings that will provide the community with greater access to vocational training at the Little Yarra Road site.
Upper Yarra Community House CEO Sally Brennan said she couldn’t wait to see the premises “overflowing with people enriching their lives”.
“It is definitely designed to be a centre of excellence for locally based training,” she said.
“This will double the delivery in the Upper Yarra with an increase in the level of qualifications we can offer.”
The community house will be able to offer training up to a diploma level, which opens a whole new market for up-skilling.
UYCH RTO manager Carmel Allan said the community college was renowned for quality training.
“Many industry partners anticipate UYCH students completing training because of the valued skills and knowledge these students bring with them to the workforce,” she said.
An information session on 1 July saw many students enrol for the first time, and existing students pursue upskilling opportunities with UYCH.
One student said: “You feel instantly comfortable here, I can’t wait to for my training to start.”
These classrooms boast latest technologies to ensure the highest quality and most up-to-date facilities and resources.
Each room is equipped with internet, data projectors, printable white boards, and access to a bank of laptops.
Tutor selection is a priority for UYCH and is integral to maintaining its status as a provider of quality training.
Tutors training with UYCH are selected because of their high level of experience and skills developed from extensive work within their relevant industry.
They are passionate about passing on their skills and knowledge.
Alison Forbes, Program Leader for Community Services said: “Tutors understand that today’s students are tomorrow’s industry leaders.”
