It’s believe the car was travelling north along the Melba Highway while a truck was travelling south and they collided around 9.40am.

The driver and sole occupant of the sedan, who is yet to be formally identified, sadly died at the scene.

The male truck driver sustained minor injuries and Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said he was taken to Maroondah Hospital in a stable condition.

A Victoria Police spokesperson said police are currently on scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Drivers are being urged to be mindful of road closures with Melba Highway closed in both directions.

Emergency services are diverting traffic in both directions. Consider alternatives including MacIntyre Road and the Maroondah Highway around the closure. Allow extra time.
