Woman airlifted to hospital after serious head-on

A Toolangi woman has been airlifted to hospital following a two-car collision on Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Road near Syme Road in Healesville at around 11.20am today.

The driver and sole occupant of one of the vehicles was a 50 year old Toolangi woman who suffered serious injuries.

The driver of the second car, a 2007 grey Audi sedan, left the scene prior to emergency services attending.

A 30-year-old Badger Creek woman was later located at an address in Mount Evelyn and has been taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

She is currently under police guard in hospital and the investigation is ongoing.

Victoria Police confirmed Yarra Ranges Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.

Healesville SES unit controller Andrew Worley said crews from both Healesville and Lilydale attended and a helpful passerby was also first on the scene.

Healesville and Badger Creek CFAs also responded.

Healesville CFA said both lanes between Pine Avenue and Dalry Road were closed and would be for at least three hours following the incident.
