Several roads have been flooded and road closures have been put in place to ensure the safety of residents in the Yarra Valley following the down pour received on Thursday 13 October.

The Yarra Glen and Yering area was affected making it difficult for drivers to get in and out with the Melba Highway, MacIntyre Lane, St Huberts Road and Healesville-Yarra Glen Road closed for periods of time.

Police and Yarra Ranges Council workers are monitoring and guiding traffic accordingly in these parts if they are able to safely cross as the water has been easing throughout the morning.

Drivers are urged to take care and monitor the conditions and remember driving on flooded roads can pose a risk to your safety and vehicle damage.

Many pot holes are also appearing across the region as the surfaces have deteriorated from the water.

Coldstream roads such as Station Street were also inundated by water overnight but that has subsided.

VicEmergency has issued Moderate Flood Warnings of Watch and Act alerts to avoid the flooded areas in various parts across the Yarra Ranges.

This is due to the Yarra River catchment recording rainfall averaging about 49mm in the upper part and 46mm in the lower part since 9am Wednesday 12 October.

VicEmergency is expecting the level of the Yarra River at Yarra Glen to peak around the moderate flood level of 4.60m on Sunday 16 October with the level currently 3.65m.
