Yarra Glen Carols By Candlelight is returning this year providing a festive event for families and friends to embrace the holiday spirit.
The free event will be held on Saturday 17 December at McKenzie Reserve, Yarra Glen starting from 5pm to 7pm with kids entertainment before carols begin at 7pm running until 9pm.
Food trucks will also be in attendance for families to grab a bite to eat and everyone’s encouraged to bring their picnic blankets and singing voices to sit back, relax and enjoy the festivities.
The carols are organised by the Yarra Glen Carols by Candlelight Committee currently chaired by Heartland Church.
Committee member Sally Marshall said there’s a lot of excitement for the carols’ return after two years without it due to Covid.
“Lots of people look forward to it because they can come along and just hang out with their family and catch up with friends,” Ms Marshall said.
“It’s a very social, relaxed environment along with the entertainment that’s available.”
Singers on the night include Life Ministry Church band, Yarra Glen Primary School, Yarra Valley Ballet, Amy Watkinson, Tiana Mitchell, Molly Elmer, Tegan Martonyi, Kobi Burmeister, Anthony Gerace, Olivia G and Talei Winning.
Chaplaincy Australia will also be in attendance fundraising for flood affected communities.
The event is free for the community thanks to the generous donations from local businesses and the Community Led Recovery Committee Grant from the Community Enterprise Charitable Fund.
“There’s been quite a lot of sponsorship from local businesses, so we would like to thank them for all their amazing support, without them it wouldn’t be able to go ahead.”
The committee is currently looking for new members to assist with the organisation of future Carols events.
