Applications for the Local History Grants Program are now open, with up to $15,000 available for organisations that preserve, record or share Victoria’s history.

The $350,000 program funds community-based organisations to tell stories from their community, preserve significant historical collections and engage the public with the past.

Minister for Government Services Danny Pearson said local history is an important part of Victoria’s memory.

“We’re proud to support projects that showcase and preserve the diverse voices that make up the state’s past,” he said.

“Whether it is for the digitisation of records, the publication of local history stories or an upgrade to a museum, the Local History Grants Program ensures that the stories of our past are available for future generations.”

Museum upgrades, archiving historical documents, websites, oral histories and podcasts, interpretive signage and collection cataloguing have all been funded in the 20 previous rounds of the grants program.

The program is managed by the Public Record Office Victoria and funded by the state government.

Applications close on Monday 30 January 2023. Visit prov.vic.au to apply.
