Drinkers banned

YARRA Junction police are warning drinkers as the summer holiday season comes in that they risk a ban from local licensed venues if they misbehave.
Senior Constable Kevin Bishop said the Liquor Accord, which began in August, was working well with two people already banned from all pubs and clubs from Woori Yallock through to Reefton.
And it’s no good moving side-ways either – Upper Yarra RSL and Powelltown Store, which operates a bar, is also party to the accord.
Venue operators retain the discretion to ban anyone from their own premises for unacceptable behaviour. “The days of someone who has been banned from one pub or club simply moving on, usually with their problem behaviour, to another venue have come to an end,” Sen Const Bishop said.

The offender will receive a letter from Yarra Junction police explaining future full liquor accord banning criteria.
A full ban is put in place when police are notified by a venue operator of a serious incident.
Many venues also have a lock-in policy where patrons can stay on and enjoy entertainment later at night but where no new ‘revellers’ are admitted.
