THE award-winning author and acclaimed health writer Maria Prendergast will come to Healesville to give a talk on depression.
Ms Prendergast’s book Understanding Depression examines in detail the definition, diagnosis, types and effects of depression as well as exploring the many treatment and recovery options.
Maria Prendergast will speak at the Senior Citizens Club in Healesville on Friday, 13 July from 2pm. Information from Elizabeth Maile on 5962 4836.
Winner of the 2006 Sane Book of the Year, much of the book is devoted to the personal stories of depression sufferers or their carers.
The book also includes perspectives from mental health professionals and the state of the current mental health services.
