ON a spectacular day for golfat Emerald Golf Club last Saturday,Stu Courtney (18) cruised to a one-point win with 45 points from an unlucky Ryan Aitken (15) one point back on 44.
Courtney was the top of the B Grade heap, while Aitken won the C Grade battle.
Dean Aitken came in with 41 points; Peter Stevens, Graham White and Kameron Geeves had 40; David Mackey had 39 and Ian Cranston headed the rest of the field with 38.
Dean Aitken smashed the longest drive of the day on the first hole, while Bob Moulday was nearest on the 12th pin and Ben Balfour the 13th. Stevens was nearest after two shots on the 17th, while Ryan Aitken rounded out a fine day’s golf by pocketing the pro pin on the 18th.
The ladies competition saw a run-away victory to Peta Clowes, who had been teetering on the edge of fame for weeks without victory.
Wednesday’s Overbearingly Fractured Golf (OFG) was a Canadian foursomes match.
The clear winners were Ken Hill and Kevin Miller (24), who had a nett score of 56. They were less than two strokes ahead of Peter Clowes and Mick Petrie (22.5), who had 57.5.
Next Saturday’s annual meeting is followed by a club foursomes championship.
