THE mechanics at Yarra Glen Auto Repairs have been servicing the community in Yarra Glen and surrounds for more than 20 years.
The friendly staff give their customers a personalised service to ensure their cars are in top working order.
As fully-qualified mechanics they service a large range of cars and a broad range of automotive services.
Owner Mick Smith began tinkering with cars as a 16-year-old in his backyard, eventually moving into a factory and nine years ago upgrading to bigger premises in Armstrong Grove.
With 34 years in the business, he works alongside Frank Sinclair who has been a mechanic for 38 years and Alister Handasyde, who completed his apprenticeship with Mick and has worked in the garage for eight years.
The mechanics can fix any ailments from wheel alignments and balancing, to brake repairs and brake machining. They also do light welding for horse floats and trailers.
Mick said drivers should get their cars checked and have an oil change on a regular basis.
“It’s good to give it a regular once over before little things turn into big problems,” he said.
“With the country miles people do around here, it’s important to have a check every three months or 5000 kilometres.”
Mick said he enjoyed servicing the cars of families in Yarra Glen and surrounds, which gives him a chance to get to know the car history and how it runs.
“Here you get to know the mums and dads and then when their kids start driving you look after their cars, too,” he said.
“I take pride in our work and keeping the business in the local area.”
Yarra Glen Auto Repairs operates from 8am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday and offers and pick up and delivery service.
