Winter stroke winners – Coker, Leigh

THE Marysville Thursday nine holers played a Par round on the back nine holes. The winner was Rob Richards with -2 followed by Graham Page with -4 who also won the nearest the pin with his tee shot to the 18th hole.
Both the ladies and men played a stroke round for the first round of the Winter Aggregate. The men’s winner was Steve Coker (25) with nett 64 followed closely by Glen Iris resident and member Ming Kuan (17) with nett 65. The ladies winner was the in-form Gail Leigh (11) with nett 73 and Sabrina Stow (24) was the runner-up with nett 78. The nearest the pins were won by Gail Leigh, Nick Williamson, David Stephen and Lilydale resident and member Peter Jeffery won the Golden Shot on the 18th.
The Marysville ladies are beginning to prepare for the Sandy Wilson Memorial Bowl on Thursday 11 September to which all local lady golfers are invited. Sandy was a loyal and popular member from Toolangi who sadly died of cancer.
There is currently a buzz around the club as chef Russell Cohen prepares to open ‘The Bunker’ restaurant for dinner for the first time on Friday 15 August. All members wish Russell well and offer him their support in his new venture.
