Hospital plan pipeline

A GROUP of community representatives has banded together with Eastern Health to discuss the multi-million dollar redevelopment of the Healesville Hospital.
The Healesville Redevelopment Liaison Group (HRLG), according to Eastern Health, will be a conduit to the community regarding the plans for the hospital’s $7.8 million transformation.
Community members Belinda Gillam Derry, David Bryson, Craig Anderson, Kerri Goding, Barbra Honan, Graham Taylor and Save Healesville Hospital Group (SHHAG) member Jane Judd help to make up the 14-person group.
Eastern Health and Department of Health representatives are also part of the HRLG.
The group’s first meeting was on 5 April and Eastern Health chief executive Alan Lilly said the group will be meeting monthly throughout the redevelopment.
“We received very positive and supportive feedback from the community members and will continue to work closely with them,” Mr Lilly said.
Ms Judd said it was good to have a chance to see the schematic designs for the redevelopment, which will be released to the public soon.
She said the group had discussed possible display locations for the designs, such as Healesville’s Memo Hall or the Yarra Ranges Council Community Link.
The redevelopment of the hospital will see a new operating theatre, a renal dialysis unit, a redeveloped community health centre and provision for a birthing room and ensuite, should maternity services return to the hospital.
