HEALESVILLE artist Amanda Ruck will stage her 17th solo exhibition, Interdimensional Portal of My Heart, at Yering Station Art Gallery.
Amanda was exhibition co-ordinator at the gallery for three years and has co-ordinated the Yering Station Sculpture Exhibition and Awards – so it’s a return to familiar surrounds.
Interdimensional Portal of My Heart features Amanda’s beautiful, dark and broody terrestrial landscapes with vast skies full of cumulus clouds in varying shapes and forms.
Landscapes, and particularly clouds, became a major focus for Amanda after moving to Melbourne, and to the Yarra Valley in 1998.
In 2007 she began painting in acrylic on 30x30cm canvas, creating atmospheric landscapes with sweeping skies and recently she has chosen to work on a larger scale, using clouds as a vehicle to depict the weather patterns of her heart.
As artist in residence at Monsalvat in February two years ago, Amanda completed one painting a day, culminating with a suite of 28 works that explored her reaction to living in the unique Monsalvat community.
The Interdimensional Portal of My Heart opens at Yering Station Art Gallery on Friday, 28 November, at 6pm with live music by Melbourne trio The Endlings, and runs through to 18 January.
