A DONATION of $4000 will help raise the profile of a push in the Upper Yarra for the formation of the Great Forest National Park.
Warburton photographer Paul Colcheedas and his partner Sonia Jane made the donation from the proceeds of a pictorial calendar they produced for 2015.
Part of the proceeds will go to getting the establishment of a new environment group, Warburton Forest Action, off the ground.
The aim of the group is to see the Great Forest National Park become a reality.
Karina Doughty, a joint facilitator of WFA with Keith Sera, said the group had formed as a follow up to a meeting last year on the GRNP.
“About 200 people attended that meeting and this new group will give people a forum for their support for the Great Forest National Park,” Ms Doughty said.
“The aim is for the park to happen sooner rather than later.”
Ms Doughty said the success of the calendar showed the support for the park and the extent of support by the Warburton community.
“People are really energised and keen to take on different events to make the GRNP happen,” Ms Doughty said.
The group meets on the last Wednesday of each month at the Community Space in Warburton between 7pm and 8.30pm.
