FORENSIC investigators were on the scene of a house fire on Canterbury Road in Montrose this morning.

The single level house was decimated by fire overnight where fire crews from Montrose, The Basin, Kalorama, Bayswater and MFB took 15 minutes to control the blaze.
Neighbours of the property called in the alert for the fire at 3.03am.
The house has been unoccupied for some time and was located on land that is part of a larger housing development.
The three bedroom house and the lot, which were at the front of the development space, were sold on February 26 this year.
Detective John Fooks of Lilydale Police said they were treating the fire as potentially suspicious.
“There have been applications filed for the demolition of the house,” he said.
It is unclear how the fire started, as investigations are ongoing.
