A WHYLD winter warm-up

By KATH GANNAWAY

WHYLD’S Winter Warming is a weekend for locals to venture out in the heart of winter, meet neighbours and celebrate the winter solstice.
If you’re wondering about WHYLD, you are a WHYLD one if you live in the towns of Woori Yallock, Hoddles Creek, Yellingbo, Launching Place or Don Valley.
WHYLD community group’s vision is to unite the five small towns to form a larger and more connected community.
Hence, Winter Warming.
On Saturday, 20 June from noon to 3pm Rayners’ Peach Cafe will host a hearty lunch, where long-time locals will regale diners with stories, and conviviality will be encouraged with table games.
The three-course meal will cost $25 with WHYLD providing a subsidy that means children under 13 will eat for free. Book on 5964 7654.
On Sunday, 21 June the meeting place is Wickhams Road Reserve where from 4pm to 8pm the celebrations will include a bonfire, low-noise fireworks, family games and all the delights of the winter season.
There will be free food and drinks for WHYLD residents. To help with catering, please RSVP to 5964 6857. to Find out more about WHYLD visit whyld.org.au or email welcome@whyld.org.au.
