Rider hospitalised after crash with car

A MOTORBIKE rider suffered life-threatening injuries in a head-on collision with a car at Coldstream on Thursday 28 July.
The crash happened about 11.30am on the Maroondah Highway, between Maxwells and Hill roads.
The Major Collision Investigation Unit is investigating the crash scene with traffic as at 5.30pm on Tuesday being diverted at either end of the Maroondah Highway as they carry out their reconstruction of the crash.
Police said the highway may be closed for some time.
While details of the crash are still being investigated, Ambulance Victoria earlier confirmed that the bike rider, a Ringwood man, had been taken to The Alfred hospital with serious injuries to his upper body and legs.
Yarra Ranges Highway Patrol and police from Yarra Glen and Yarra Junction attended and police confirmed on Thursday afternoon that the driver of the car, a 36 year old Badger Creek man, was taken into custody at the scene.
The west-bound lane of Maroondah Highway which had bike parts strewn over around 50 metres, was closed for some time following the crash.
Police said the motorbike rider was travelling west on the highway with the driver of the car heading towards Healesville.
Any witnesses to the crash is asked to contact Leading Senior Constable Ian Whitehall at Yarra Ranges Highway Patrol on 9739 2300.
Healesville police are also looking for witnesses to a crash after the driver of one of the cars left the scene, on Wednesday 27 July..
The two-car collision happened at the intersection of the Eltham-Yarra Glen Road and Steels Creek Road, about 5pm.
Leading Senior Constable Cliff Argus said a 26-year-old Lilydale man who was driving one of the cars involved fled the scene and was located by police on Melba Highway a short time later and tested positive to alcohol.
Neither driver was believed to have suffered serious injury.
