YARRA Valley children are being urged to get involved in water sports and use their local rivers, with a canoeing session coming up over the school holidays in Warburton.
A Paddle Power class will be held on 22 September, with three-time Olympian and Melbourne Canoe Club coach Warwick Draper teaching children canoeing in the Yarra River.
The event will be held at the Warburton Caravan Park, and two sessions will be held, including one for children living with a disability.
Organiser Leanne Nicholls said the kids will learn basic skills on the water, play ball games, and will receive a certificate at the end of the lesson.
The session includes a canoe, life jacket, helmet and coaching, and runs for 90 minutes – entry is $20.
