A NEW nature playground makes playtime fun for students of Don Valley Primary School.
Students designed the new playground, and teachers and parents fund-raised to raise money to fund the project.
Physical education teacher Kate Weston said the school’s 33 students were all involved in the project.
“We have a lovely and very active group of families in our community,” Ms Weston said.
The playground took 18 months to complete, from the planning process to finishing the building of the playground.
“(The students) created 2D and 3D models, wrote an action plan, wrote a letter to school council, researched and visited other playgrounds and even had expert advice from Healesville Sanctuary staff,” she said.
Ms Weston said the nature playground featured a sandpit, a redeveloped cubby house, a gully section and tyres.
“Our students are thoroughly enjoying their time in their very special nature playground,” Ms Weston said.
