Nerves turn to excitement for medal winners

FOR the Yarra Ranges Athletics Club, it was a long day at the Eastern Metropolitan Region Relay Championships at Doncaster on Saturday.
With 28 teams entered across the full range of relay event formulas, there was plenty of action to keep the cheer squad on their feet.
With almost half of the Yarra Ranges team competing in club colours for the first time, it was both a nervous and exciting morning.
The day started off with a courageous race from the Under 9s Girls 4x200m team.
This team delivered the goods and the club’s first medal for the day, a gleaming bronze medal.
An amazing come-from-behind win sent the gold medal to the Under 9s-Under 11s Mixed Age Girls Medley team.
Medal-winning teams as follows:
Under 15 Mixed Gender – 4 x200m – 1st: Estelle Petersen, Chelsea Thompson, Patrick Keating, Harrison van Duuren; Under 9-Under 11 Mixed Age Girls Medley – 1st: Charlotte Comport, Tiara Willis, Alicia Di Pietrantonio, Kiara Flavel; Under 14-Under 15 Mixed Age Boys Medley – 2nd: Taj Linde, Tayleb Willis, Patrick Keating, Harrison van Duuren; Under 12 Mixed Gender – 4x200m – 2nd: Indigo Linde, Madeline Laven, Jaymin Townsley, Zachariah Clarke; Under 9 Girls 4x200m – 3rd: Kaylah Cannon, Gemma Kerr, Stephanie van Bemmel, Charlotte Comport; Under 12-Under 13 Mixed Age Girls Medley – 3rd: Madeline Laven, Indigo Linde, Taylah Tillotson, Olvia DeVincentis; Under 15 Boys 4 x 100m – 3rd: Oliver Duncan, Zane Wheeler, Tayleb Willis, Patrick Keating.
Several of these teams will qualify to compete at the State Relay Championships in December.

Next week is back to a Saturday morning program starting at 8.30am.
The senior team competed at Doncaster on Sunday afternoon.
The next round is back at Morrison Reserve on Saturday, 3 December.
