Lions’ pride dented

THE Lions Club of Healesville will have to dip into hard-earned funds to replace a trailer stolen between Christmas and New Year.
The trailer and a ride-on mower used to keep the grounds around the club’s Lilydale Road hall neat and tidy were stolen from a storage shed on the property.
Lions president Alex Brown said neither was insured and while the mower won’t be replacing, the club can’t do without a trailer.
“It’s essential for collecting goods for the opportunity shop, and for deliveries,” Mr Brown said.
“Unfortunately, it is also necessary for the many trips we need to do the tip with unsaleable goods that are dumped at the shop.”
He said while it was disappointing to have to use funds that could be better spent elsewhere in the community, members would not let the theft disillusion them.
“You just try to put things like this to one side and soldier on,” he said.
