Audi comes a cropper

A VERMONT South woman who crashed a high-powered Audi on the Reefton Spur about 4pm on Sunday could face speeding and careless driving charges.
Sergeant Tom Wilkinson of Warburton Police said the driver, 26, held a full licence but was not experienced with a high-powered car.
“She has lost control and seriously damaged the vehicle when it ran off the road and hit trees,” Sgt Wilkinson said.
He said one of two passengers was the only casualty, suffering a head injury that required stitches.
“They were fortunate it wasn’t much more serious. It’s an 80km/h zone and if you come off the road the terrain is not very forgiving,” he said.
In a separate incident, campers at Upper Yarra Dam phoned police to report another high-powered European car, similar to the one above, but according to Sgt Wilkinson, not the same vehicle, speeding through the park.
“It was reported to be travelling at around 100 kilometres an hour at around 3.30pm and was reported to us by three separate families,” he said.
Police are investigating both matters.
Anyone with information is asked to phone Warburton Police on 5966 2006 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
