23 goes into nine just fine

CHRIS Carlton won the Marysville nine-hole competition last week with 23 points and Brian Worcester was the runner-up with 21 points. Rob Richards won the nearest the pin on the 18th hole.
On Saturday, in hot sunny conditions, players were reminded to be vigilant when a large snake was seen curled up near the 17th green.
Those who had qualified for the Barton Cup final played a stroke round and the winner was Toolangi resident Willy Williams (21) with nett 68. The runner-up was David Stephen (17) from Croydon with 72. The daily winner was Steve Coker (23) with 68 on a countback from Coldstream member Sean Williams and his father Willy.
The ladies also played a stroke round and the winner was Helen Howard (21) from Chirnside Park with nett 72 and Sabrina Stow (24) was the runner-up with 76.
The nearest the pins were won by Nick Williamson, Alan Howard, David Stephen and Ray Jones who also won the golden shot. Alan Howard with 26 putts won the putting competition.
